| #10: June 3rd, 2010 - Refurbishing the Steering Rack Assembly... The old steering rack appeared to be in good shape with no leaks and the hoses looked OK. The first step was to disassemble the rack and grind off all the casting flash and rough spots on the casting. Next the rack housing was glass-beaded in the blasting cabinet and flushed out using compressed air and brake parts cleaner. Finally, the rack was reassembled with new inner and outer tie rod ends and tie rod end boots. All the bare metal steel parts were clear-coated to prevent rust. The rack will now go into storage until it's needed on the car.        | ||
